The Algerian national team narrowly edged out a lackluster Super Eagles team to progress to the final of the AFCON 2019 in Egypt.
The Nigerian team did not possible much threat in the first half and struggled to create chances. Algeria were lucky to take the lead through an own goal from a cross that the Nigerian defence didn’t clear off.
Nigeria relies on VAR to draw level after a penalty kick was awarded. Algeria has been the tournament’s favourite to go all the way being the most organised and conceding just a goal before meeting Nigeria and also managed to be the tournament’s highest scorers.
Algeria has now set up a date for the AFCON final with Senegal who scalped Tunisia to head to the finals.
