The People’s Democratic Party, PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus with other PDP stalwarts are currently in a meeting with Nigeria’s senate President Bukola Saraki in Illorin, Kwara State.
The Senate President was accompanied by some governors as well as other notable PDP figures. The governor’s include: Rivers State governor, Nysom Wike, Aminu Tambuwal, Sokoto, Samuel Ortom , Benue, Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State.
Others include: Sule Lamido, who has been reported to be nursing ambition to run for president under the PDP, senator Lawal Shuaibu, Senator Barnabas Gemade.
The delegation consists of some current PDP members and the returnees from All Progressives Congress, APC who had defected on grounds of harassment.
Governor Ortom of Benue State is the latest batch of defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC after the governor claimed to have been handed a “red card” by the ruling party. Although, APC hierarchy has denied they chased the governor away and insisted he is still very much without the APC fold.
At a brief interview after the meeting, Rivers State Governor, Nysom Wike had said that they came to offer support for their “political friend”, Abubakar Kawu Baraje who lost his mother.
