In less than a week, Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has requested the meeting of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki over crisis threatening to decimate the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to Daily Post, Senate President Bukola Saraki will be arriving the Presidential Villa at the behest of the President, Muhammadu Buhari.
Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to meet with the Senate President Bukola Saraki at the Presidential Villa in Abuja Sunday night.
The meeting which is at the instance of President Buhari, will be the second of such meetings to be called in less than a week by the President to look at developments in the ruling All Progressives Congress with a view to ensuring cohesion within the party ahead of 2019 general elections.
It is still being speculated that the Speaker House Of Representatives will be attending the meeting too.
The APC is facing a threat of mass defection from both chambers of the National Assembly and some State Governors. Already some foundation members have already defected from the party to form the Reformed All Progressives Congress, r-APC. It has become a daunting task to unify the party in time to mount a strong challenge before the 2019 Presidential elections.
It will be recalled that last month, it was reported that President Muhammadu Buhari has refused to meet the aggrieved members of the ruling party APC, insisting that he would not interfere with the happenings of the party, advising that the Aggrieved members should go to their respective state Secretariat to find a solution to their political melee.
However with the defection of key members of the APC recently and the general elections just hanging around the corner, President Buhari has seen no politicsp expediency in remaining rigid over the looming mass defection threatening to sink the All Progressives Congress, APC .
