Speculations have finally been put to rest over the defection of Delta State immediate past governor, Emmanuel Oduaghan.
Oduaghan , who has been rumoured for weeks to join the All Progressives Congress, APC, after its national chairman, Adams Oshiomole intensified efforts to bring the Delta South Senatorial aspirant within the APC fold.
It has been the sustained efforts of the Oshiomole-led APC to crach into the South-South geopolitical zone ahead of the 2019 elections to cut even potential vote deficits especially as most of the defections from the APC seem to be occuring in the North where it is considered as APC stronghold.
Uduaghan, a founding member of the PDP and Delta South Senate aspirant in 2019 confirmed his defection at a meeting of the APC national caucus held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by leaders of the party including national officers, state governors, former state governors, ministers and National Assembly members.
The former governor cited reasons for defection from the PDP to APC as a desire to attract development and the find a lasting solution to the crisis in the Niger-delta region.
Emmanuel Oduaghan was former secretary to the Delta State Government, during the Ibori regime and the immediate past Governor of Delta State for 8 years.
