When it was the turn of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to mount the podium and address the attendees, the former governor did not find it expedient to engage in diplomacy but employed expletives and diatribes in reference to the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo. Although not referencing President Obasanjo by name, he left little doubts in the minds of those in attendance as to who he was referring to. For there is no other former army general who doubles as a former President of Nigeria ….
In a fit of emotion, Bola Tinibu delivered a demeaning remark to Obasanjo addressing him as an election rigger and busybody who had the temerity to challenge the President Buhari.
He also cruelly mocked Obasanjo as sending analogue letters via postal service instead of using email. Stressing that his letters were never delivered to the Presidency.
When it was the turn of Senate President, Bukola Saraki to address delegates, it was evident he did not have a speech prepared. His remarks where piercing and filled with rhetorics.
Saraki challenged the leadership of APC, reminding delegates how APC conquered the opposition with unity, leadership and cohesion, in a subtle reminder of what APC now lacks.
Senator Saraki is part of the aggrieved nPDP faction in the APC that is threatening to break out of the party over allegations of harassment and persecution.
