Donald Trump pushed back at Robert De Niro.

Just fresh after the US President concluded his historical Nuclear Summit with North Korea, it took Donald Trump thirty six hours to hit back at two-time Oscar Award winner, Robert De Niro over comments the actor made at The Tony Awards speech. In a retaliatory swing, the President branded De Niro as very low IQ individual.

Robert De Niro who has received a standing ovation at the Tony Awards, has been a long time critic of Donald Trump since 2016 when he described the President as “completely nuts”. He also featured in a speech at Brown University where he urged students to “stop the surge of insanity going on in the Trump administration”.

Trump clapped back on Twitter by writing

“Robert De Niro, a very Low IQ individual, has received to many shots to the head by real boxers in movies. I watched him last night and truly believe he may be ‘punch-drunk.’”

Then concluded by bragging about the economy and employment rate in a quick follow-up tweet.

“…realize the economy is the best it’s ever been with employment being at an all time high, and many companies pouring back into our country. Wake up Punchy!”

Trump is unmistakably alluding to De Niro famously appearing as boxer Jake LaMotta in the movie Raging Bull where he won an Academy Award.

Robert De Niro has made it three celebrities the President has employed Twitter to spar with recently. He has retaliated against Alec Baldwin who usually impersonates the President in Saturday Night Live. He has also attacked Meryl Streep for criticizing the President at the 2017 Golden Globes. Then Curry Stephen, the NBA All Star  when he said the Golden State Warriors might not visit the White House, among others. Trump has in a also in what is seen as an unprecedented mode of conduct attacked Canada’s Prime Minister Tradeau over the G-7 summit in Canada recently.
