Since the Lamuel Orjih-led electoral committee announced the release and availability of forms for various elective positions for Enugu-Ngwo town union government election for October 2019 over a week ago, there is no candidate yet who had picked up the presidential forms to run for the position of the president general .
Lodega media can authoritatively report that forms for other positions such as Treasurer, Provost, Financial Secretary, PRO have been bought by prospective candidates while no forms for the position of the PG have been acquired by any aspirants so far.
During a feeler exercise by one of our correspondent, some political insiders are of the opinion that the lack of enthusiasm for the position of the PG by candidate is due to the high standards set by the outgoing administration which would be likely used as a gauge to measure the performance of the next regime.
Others are of the opinion that the transparent nature and welfare oriented style of leadership of the John Enwu-led administration would be hard to emulate or even surpass. Still others believe the constitutional requirement that all prospective presidential aspirants run with their vice has made the aspirants slow in getting their structures together as wider consultations would be needed to select a vice.
Speaking to Lodega media, an elder in the community cabinet who prefers anonymity opined, ” we have made it clear to all prospective candidates that anyone running for PG shouldn’t bother if he can surpass the fantastic job the current administration has done.”
A source within the Electoral Committee stated they are yet to sell any presidential forms as no one has to come forward yet to purchase the Presidential forms. But the committee has recorded the collection of forms for other elective posts.
