Ambitiously desperate PSG have made a staggering offer of €270 million (£238m/$317m) for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to reports by Mundo Deportivo.
Coutinho’s contract has a €400m (£353m/$470m) release clause, but PSG have sent the offer to one of the former Liverpool midfielder’s agents, for it to be forwarded to Barcelona.
Neymar, who joined PSG last summer, is close friends with Coutinho and the French side plan to reunite the pair in an extravagant bid to keep the Brazil winger at the club, amid interest from Real Madrid.
PSG has largely failed to make a strong Europe Champions League showing after signing Neymar from Barcelona last season. It’s kind of ironic that Barcelona who tracked Coutinho last season in a bid to keep Neymar happy at the club are now being played with by the same tactics by PSG.
Amidst talks of Neymar joining Real Madrid, PSG is trying to keep the Brazilian star in the club by bringing in Coutinho who is reportedly very close to Neymar something Barcelona tried but failed to achieve last season.
And PSG reportedly making the offer to Coutinho’s agent instead of Barcelona is just another indication of the frosty relationship between the French Club and La Liga Champions.
